Incident: FSU Shooting April 17, 2025
Work Performed over 3 month period.
Within 2 hours of the university issuing an alert at 12:01 p.m. EDT, communications were
underway with the 1 Asterisk Team and mental health services were delivered by our clinic to
community members by 4:30 PM that afternoon. The operations plan created by Yendy Gonzalez,
Ismael Colon, and their team for the event allowed us to implement coordinated, trauma-informed
messaging during community behavioral health crises to preserve trust, mobilize resources, and
promote safety and healing.
The documents in the plan included an Incident Action Plan (IAP),
Financial Trackers, a Communications Plan, and Reporting Templates (Battle Rhythm and CAN
Report). More than just delivering documents, the 1 Asterisk team provided our staff with empathy,
direction, and hands-on support in a time of crisis. Their presence enabled us to deliver
trauma-informed workshops, support groups, and counseling sessions with care and excellence.
